During a period of time when America appears to be in political turmoil, Austin, Texas psych rockers The Black Angels have channelled this toxic energy to release arguably their heaviest record to day.
Nearly four years since their last album, Death Song serves as part protest, part emotional catharsis in a climate dominated by division, anxiety and unease.
To coincide with the announcement of the new record, the band has released the first track from the album, which will be released on April 21.
‘Currency’ is a strong contender for the heaviest song the band has ever put to wax, meditates on the governing role the monetary system plays in our lives, while slow-building psychedelic earworm “Half Believing” questions the nature and confusing realities of devotion.
The Black Angels will be playing at Primavera Sound in June, see dates below:
JUNE 1 – Barcelona, Spain
JUNE 10 – Porto, Portugal
