In 2008 the world was treated to one the most unique film, which still today stands the test of time.
The hand held camera monster movie Cloverfield left so many questions unanswered and lead to so many different fan theories. But the one thing fans of the Matt Reeves film really wanted was a squeal.
Well now fans have got their wish, of sorts.
A trailer released earlier today through Paramount studios reveals that J.J Abrams company Bad Robot are responsible for shrouded in secrecy 10 Cloverfield Lane.
The trailer shows three people – Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher Jr – locked in what appeared to be an underground bunker, but with no reasoning as to why they are there and what their relationship is.
It is not until Winstead makes a break for it does it come apparent and the title of the film is divulged.
Rather than a sequel to Reeves’ found-footage monster movie, Abrams tells Collider that the new film is “a blood relative to Cloverfield“. He says the idea has been percolating for some time, and that, with typical secrecy, he wanted to hold back for as long as possible.
To what extent the mysterious beast will feature in this new film is yet to be seen, but what is for certain is that the fan fair rumour mill is going to be in full swing once more.
