To many he is a superhero, to others an icon but the man who gave the world Spider-Man has revealed due to failing eyesight he can no longer enjoy his beloved creation.
The former president and chairman of Marvel comics, Stan Lee said in a Radio Times interview that his eyesight was so poor that he could no longer read comics, but this doesn’t stop the 93 year-old from coming up with the ideas.
Lee told the Radio Times: ‘I come up with ideas for stories and somebody writes an outline for me – but I can’t read it. I have to hope it’s good.
‘If something is very important, they print it in very big type for me to read – but that’s all I can do. I have the same trouble with hearing. It’s awful to feel a thousand years old.’
Lee who has had a cameo in every Marvel Film has been a huge part of the comic book word, having an influence on characters such as the Fantastic Four, Iron Man and Thor.
And the 93 year-old will no doubt appear in Marvel’s next cinematic chapter in Captian America: Civil War
